Friends, I have an important message for you today. During this busy Christmas season, I want to tell you about a lady who adopted 2 young girls as a single mom. Those girls deserved the very best I could give them. And it was never enough. It never seemed enough. I remember stressing whether they were really better off with me, whether I had even done the best thing for them by adopting them.
Y'ALL, I WONDERED WHETHER THEY'D HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF WITHOUT THE LOVING HOME I PROVIDED BECAUSE I DOUBTED MYSELF SO MUCH.
Did I make mistakes? Heck yea. Did I fail them? Unfortunately, yes.
Did I turn around and apologize and pick myself up and keep trying every time? Yep. Did they learn from that? Praise God, yes, they did.
Flash forward 10 years. Now I am married, one of those girls has graduated and moved out on her own, and my mom lives with us. I have half the kids at home & 3 times the adults to help out. I still feel like there's never enough time to do all that my family deserves.
I HAVE LESS RESPONSIBILITIES THAN THAT SINGLE MOM DID AND 3X THE HELP... AND IT'S STILL. NOT. ENOUGH.
And I praise God that that's not the end of the story because it is enough. By His Grace.
I had that moment of clarify on Thanksgiving Day when I compared my present situation to the single mom from a decade ago and realized how much grace that single mom deserved.
But her grace is not the story here.
Her guilt is the story.
Because I bet that her guilt is your guilt. And you deserve that same grace.
YOUR GRACE IS THE STORY HERE.
Friends, we're built to always want to do more. There will never be enough time to do it all. There's not supposed to be. There's supposed to be enough time to do what's most important and enough urgency to keep us striving for more.
If you know Jesus today, then you know the grace that He offers us. I encourage you to accept it. God placed you where you are because you are part of His plan. And He does not fail; therefore you cannot fail Him. Your shortcomings aren't greater than Jesus's grace.
JESUS'S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT. HIS GRACE IS GREATER THAN YOUR SHORTCOMINGS.
Please, if you find yourself getting stressed out during this holiday season, I beg you to STOP in the middle of the madness. Hit your knees, and thank God that HE IS ENOUGH. If you believe that, then you have to believe that what you're doing is enough, because you're not alone. You're never alone. You have God's grace & His power with you. YOU, with GOD IN YOU, ARE...
ENOUGH..
Love, Laurie
